AVDeco Zeus Z323
This open but sturdy design looks as good as the brand new Plasma TV you want
to put on it. It uses a strong, light metal called
Duralumin to lend rigidity
and strength to an already esthetically pleasing structure. It is bolted
together cleanly and neatly with steel machine screws as well as having clever
caps and things to hide any unsightly bits.
There are
vibration isolators between each sheet of glass and the frame so
noise transmission to your gear is reduced. The glass is highly polished and
tempered for shatter-resistance. The middle shelf glass is
10mm thick – much
better for those heavy pieces of A/V gear than the cheaper brands, which use 8mm
or even 6mm glass. The top is even thicker, at
12mm – to safely support heavy
video displays.
Esthetics and utility combine seamlessly in this piece. The feet are
adjustable and can be replaced with ball casters for portability or even spikes
for maximum noise isolation. The “spine” in the back of the unit is a
hollow-tube wire management system with 2” holes every few inches – both on the
front side and the back side for those large A/V connectors and cable bundles.
Lastly, lasting good looks are ensured by a combination of anodized coating
on the aluminum pieces, chrome plating on the little hardware bits, and powder
coat on the wire management system.

Materials:
- The side pieces and horizontal supports are Duralumin.
- *Duralumin is a remarkably strong material made from Aluminum, Copper,
Magnesium, and Manganese that is easy to work when raw and then becomes very
hard after heat treatment. It’s used extensively in aircraft due to its
strength and lightness.
- Supports are sandblasted and then electrostatically coated with a durable
layer to prevent corrosion and discoloration of the metal.
- The support rods are Duralumin, and have been coated with a protective
layer to prevent corrosion.
Fasteners:
- Connectors for the glass have vibration isolators to damp unwanted
vibrations.
- Glass connectors on top have chrome-plated Duralumin caps over them for
looks & durability.
- The fasteners for the uprights are nickel-plated steel socket head cap
screws.
- Each stand comes with the hex tool to assemble the side supports.
Glass:
- The middle shelf glass is 10mm thick. The standard for most furniture is
between 6mm and 8mm.
- The top shelf is a whopping 12mm thick – to safely hold those heavy Plasma
TVs.
- The glass is tempered so it does not present a danger in the unlikely
event it should be shattered.
- The standard glass is a light green tint. This color has been found to be
the most pleasing to the eye initially and also not does not get old or start
to look “cheap” after you’ve owned the stand for awhile as some other colors
might. It also fits in with more décor styles than other colored glasses.
- In addition, an optional clear glass is currently available for those
situations where green glass just won’t work.
Cable Management:
- Wire management holes through the spine are about 2” diameter and spaced
to be near the center of each shelf space (for comparison, a DVI connector is
about 1.5 to 1.75 inches wide). The spine itself is hollow and wires can be
run up/down inside the spine.
